Butterfly Wonderland

HomeScottsdale AttractionsButterfly Wonderland

The Butterfly Wonderland entertains visitors of all ages in a marvelous conservatory that displays and dazzles with more than 3,000 fluttering butterflies. The conservation center is part of the larger OdySea in the Desert entertainment complex that includes the OdySea Aquarium, itself a superb place to visit. Moreover, the Butterfly Wonderland offers more than just butterflies; it also provides visitors with an up-and-close look at reptiles and giant lizards. Fortunately, the reptile exhibits are separate from the butterflies in their protective conservatory.

The Conservatory

Upon entering the conservatory, prepare to greet thousands of tropical rainforest butterflies as they flutter between plants and flowers. As you stroll along the paths, butterfly experts from the center can help you identify the different types. In addition to the butterflies flying around in their adult stage, guests can also visit the Chrysalis Emergence Gallery and see where the early stages of life begin for these magnificent creatures. Inside the 3D theater, learn about the monarch butterfly and its phenomenal journey away from the cold winters in the United States towards the mountains of Mexico. After the film, do not forget to visit the rainforest reptiles, giant insects and tropical waters filled with exotic aquatic wildlife.

Take a Break During Your Visit to the Butterfly Wonderland

Fortunately, the Butterfly Wonderland in Scottsdale allows visitors to enter and exit the conservatory as long as they receive a stamp upon exit. In this case, take some time to visit a restaurant or pub located in the complex. A couple of options include Johnny Rocket’s for burgers or Pangaea Dinosaur Grill for delicious Mediterranean cuisine. To satisfy your sweet tooth, the Sugar Drop Candy Shop along with the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory offer plenty of delectable treats. If you want to purchase a souvenir to remember the desert, check out the Arizona Territory Trading Post or the Four Peaks Mining Co.

The Whole Experience

In order to maximize your visit to OdySea in the Desert, visit the aquarium and the Butterfly Wonderland in a single day with a pass that allows for entry to both. In addition to the amazing exhibits throughout, visitors also have the chance to play in the Lazer + Mirror Maze or have a cocktail in the Polar Play Ice Bar. Both attractions only provide more fun when visiting this place where the “desert meets the sea,” especially if you bring the kids with you. Located at 9500 E. Via de Ventura, Scottsdale AZ, 85258, the Butterfly Wonderland is just the beginning of a wonderful day.
