Scottsdale is a wonderful destination for many reasons, including offering plenty of great spots for sightseeing. Make sure you add these huge hits to your itinerary when it comes to planning a sightseeing journey to the beautiful mountain town of Scottsdale, AZ!
Taliesin West
Everyone has heard of the famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright, but not everyone has had a chance to see this incredible museum that showcases this man’s breathtaking talent when it comes to designing spaces and creating attractive houses and buildings.
Head to Taliesin West at some point during your stay to see the traditional vibe of his work, learn about the history of his life, and see far-reaching views of the desert that rolls out in front of the building like a red carpet. We love how the tour guides are passionate, knowledgeable, and ready to share their knowledge with you during your personalized experience.
Walk Around Old Town Scottsdale
One of the main tourist attractions that brings in people from all over the world is walking around Old Town Scottsdale to go shopping, eat mouthwatering food at the restaurants, and check out the coolest cultural sights. We think spending at least half a day wandering around the old-school vibe of this section of the city is a must-do during your time in Arizona.
Not sure where to start? We know it can be a bit overwhelming. Still, we think the Civic Center Mall is a top spot for those who want to go shopping, pick up some souvenirs for their friends back at home, and purchase some clothing items to wear during your date later that night. You can then wander around and see the LOVE sculpture that will truly put you in the mood for romance.
If you can plan your trip right, head here on Thursday evenings to see the Scottsdale Artwalk, see local artists, check out their creations, and meet other tourists and travelers who want to see all this bustling city offers. Check out the city’s events page to time your trip around Old Town with cool local events and annual happenings.
Bring Your Golf Clubs
Suppose you are going to Arizona during the heat of the summer. In that case, the best way to get outside, feel the sunshine on your face, and see the breathtaking countryside is to go golfing. Even if you are not a professional (yet), you will still enjoy renting some clues, going in the golf cart, and dressing the part as you walk around the pristine and beautiful golf courses that dot the Scottsdale suburbs,
There are tons of courses for you to choose from based on your preferences, skill level, and price range. We recommend spending a full day at the Troon North Golf Club if you want to try to hit a hole in one or go below par. You will love the desert landscape, ravines, green rolling hills, and free shuttles to and from the course.
Walk in Pinnacle Peak Park
There is nothing better than going for a walk early on a spring morning or enjoying a late walk in the Fall breeze when you are on vacation. You can head out into the hills and walk to the top of the lush green forests after getting a takeaway coffee in the morning before the heat hits or go for a beautiful pre-dinner walk to check out the scenery.
Pinnacle Peak Park is one of the top spots to go to if you are in the mood to see the landscapes, view the desert, walk among incredible nature, and get the most bang for your buck. This park includes tons of trails, with the most popular being the main trail that takes you more than 1,300 feet into the air from where you started.
You will break a sweat on this 1.75-mile trail, but it will be totally worth it. You can check out incredible views over the city, Troon Golf Course, and the Sonoran Desert. For those who are avid hikers, or those who just want to see the best sights in less than an hour or two, this is the top choice.
McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park
Lastly, the McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park is a must-visit for families coming to Scottsdale with younger kids, or those interested in railroads, trains, and transportation. And don’t worry — it’s not just for kids. We love how this cool museum and attraction is good for people of all ages, including rides, informational centers, mini trains, large train models, and much more.
Make sure you take some time to walk through the Railway Museum to learn more about the old steam engine, traditional railway cars, and history of Scottsdale in the past. You can take a break at the picnic tables in the grassy area and have a picnic lunch as you watch the world go by around you. The best part? This park is free, so you don’t have to break the bank to have a fun time.
