HomeScottsdale DiningOregano’s Pizza Bistro

Oregano’s Pizza Bistro has several locations in both Arizona and Colorado, from Tucson to Boulder. If you seek homemade comfort food in massive portions, you can probably find an Oregano’s open nearby. With over 25 different locations, this restaurant has garnered legions of fans in both states for nearly two decades. At the Oregano’s located in Old Town Scottsdale, the menu features comfort food with dishes from the Italian American cookbook. Inside, the setting pays homage to a family home from the 1950s, with kitschy paintings on the wall, comfortable seating and quirky fixtures throughout. Moreover, every time you visit, diners always receive super service, quality ingredients, and portion sizes where ordering for one usually means it can feed two or more!

Chicago-Style Pizza at Oreganos Bistro

As the founder’s family hails from the Windy City, guests can expect deep-dish pan pizzas as well as some selections that include thin crust. Each pizza is tossed by hand and baked in a hearthstone oven. Add your own toppings and create your own masterpiece. In the tradition of many Midwestern cities, the pizza makers here use Wisconsin cheese, whole tomatoes and a few secret ingredients to add distinction to every one of their pizzas. The signature thin crust pizzas include selections such as Lawrence’s Original made with veggie ingredients and the Bistro Classic, which comes with garlic-white sauce and parmesan and is topped with tomatoes, red onion, basil, and four different Italian cheeses. The wildcard pizzas at Oregano’s Pizza Bistro include the Yahoo Barbecue Chicken that uses three different cheeses and the Puerto Peñasco made with cilantro pesto then topped with carne asada, white onion, poblano peppers pico de gallo and cotija cheese—it even comes with a bottle of hot sauce!

Pasta, Salads & Sandwiches

In addition to excellent and innovative pizzas at Oreganos Bistro, the kitchen also prepares pastas cooked al dente in several versions. The Lady Scampi features shrimp in a tangy chipotle-garlic sauce alongside spiral pasta, diced tomatoes, cilantro and parmesan cheese; it’s a light, yet flavorful pasta packed with spice. The classic sausage and peppers comes in a homemade marinara tossed in a ziti pasta and topped with a hefty amount of parmesan cheese. If you still seek spice, try the Diablo Shrimp Pasta or Alfredo the Dark; the former uses more chipotle and pico de gallo while the latter packs poblano and jalapeño peppers into a creamy sauce over spiral pasta. In regard to salads and sandwiches, the portions are massive and the menu is just as comprehensive as the other options.
