Hulu’s Modern Tiki

Located in Old Town Scottsdale, Hulu’s Modern Tiki features the flavors from Hawaii and the South Pacific in a faux mid-century modern setting complete with all the attributes of tiki culture such as torches, carved statues and atomic cocktails. Essentially, if you love or know somebody who loves everything about retroism, then Hulu’s Modern Tiki is the perfect spot. Additionally, the retro restaurant presents one of the best happy hour menus in town, with items like Hilo Sliders, Abalone-Style Calamari and Pork Stuffed Potstickers served alongside Lilikoi Margaritas and Blood Orange Martinis.

Island Starters at Hula’s Modern Tiki in Scottsdale

With a background of early 1960s surf music, the efficient servers arrive at your table with a menu inspired from far-off South Pacific locales. To begin, order the Hawaiian Ceviche, a citrus-marinated masterpiece made with fresh white fish, coconut milk, chili cilantro, garlic and wonton chips. For landlubbers, ask your server for an order of Hula’s Chicken Wings served with a spicy Asian BBQ sauce or the Samurai Beef Skewers with pineapple, scallions and a lime-curry sauce. The kitchen also prepares an excellent lobster bisque and a piquant seaweed salad for people who prefer the traditional soup and salad before the entrée.

Surf & Turf Selections

Open for lunch, dinner and weekend brunch, Hulu’s Modern Tiki in Scottsdale prepares an excellent mix of entrée selections that will satisfy every palate. From the section entitled Hulu’s Favorites, the Loco Moco pays homage to Hawaii while the Jawaiian Jerk Chicken Plate fuses the flavors of Jamaica and the Aloha State. The Fresh Fish section features different types, from ahi and Mahi to salmon and snapper, each one perfectly cooked in your choice of style. The kitchen then prepares the fish in five different ways, these include Blackened Wasabi, Lemongrass Encrusted, Hula’s Pan Fried, Macadamia Encrusted and the popular, Jawaiian Jerk. Hulu’s also prepares a nice variety of sandwiches and burgers that include sweet potato fries, house-cut fries, slaw or salads on the side.

Happy Hour & More

At happy hour, the specials are phenomenal and if you happen to visit for a weekend brunch, the Scorpion Bowl made with two types of rum, brandy, pineapple, lemon and cranberry juices will be the highlight of your brunch, especially when the flaming 151-proof alcohol float is lit on fire. Hulu’s Modern Tiki has three locations: two in Phoenix and this one located at 7213 E. First Avenue, Scottsdale, AZ. Open seven days a week typically from 10am to 12am, check the website for specific opening and closing times.
