Century Grand

At Century Grand, visitors can experience the Roaring Twenties as it existed a century ago in a cozy and convivial setting. Located in the trendy Phoenix neighborhood of Arcadia, this speakeasy/restaurant concept showcases what life was like a century ago, albeit without Prohibition. From the décor to the menu, the sentiment focuses on the era when Hollywood was at the beginning of its Golden Age and jazz music was still relatively new.

On the Menu

The dishes pay homage to classics such as Oysters Rockefeller, Pork and Duck Terrine and Steak Tartare. However, the menu changes often according to season, so these dishes may or may not be available for guests at any given time. One of the highlights from the kitchen, however, includes the Sweet Potato Dumplings made with local cheese and pumpkin seeds then drizzled in a pomegranate molasses. Additionally, the kitchen prepares dishes that highlight the modern 20s, with the Japanese Eggplant Fries and Thai Crispy Beef. The former is made with heirloom peppers, chickpea puree and sheep’s milk feta cheese, while the latter comes in a Thai vinaigrette with Fresno chili and crispy onions.

Behind the Bar at Century Grand in Phoenix

If you are in search of cocktails, the knowledgeable folks at Century Grand in Phoenix have you covered, as they claim to have the largest selection of bourbon and whiskey in the Grand Canyon State. One look at the massive cocktail menu and you will understand that this boast does have some merit. The perfectly hand-crafted cocktails are categorized in five different sections: Refreshing, Fruity, Tropical & Adventurous, Smokey & Exotic, and Spirituous & Stirred. Under each category, the cocktail names follow different points on a map of the United States. For example, in reference to the Continental and Trans-Continental Railroads, the cocktails feature stops along the railways. Try the Cumberland, PA made with rum, dry vermouth, celery bitters and lime juice then garnished with a spicy serrano pepper. Under the Refreshing section, the drinks from Omaha, NE, Julesburg, CO, and Rawlins, WY are aptly crafted in order to assuage thirst on those sweltering summer days.

Barter & Shake

The hospitality group behind this concept is Barter & Shake, in which the hope aims to bring together old-fashioned conviviality and modern comforts in a truly unique setting. Located at 3626 E. Indian School Road in Phoenix, AZ, Century Grand is only minutes away from Scottsdale in the heart of the Arcadia District.
