Cafe Monarch

Cafe Monarch was rated by the restaurant review app, Yelp, as one of the most romantic restaurants in the entire United States due to the majority of reviews that rave about the ambiance, the service, and of course, the food. Located in Old Town Scottsdale and only open for dinner, Café Monarch is on the top of many lists when it comes to dining in the Phoenix Metro Area, especially for those romantic occasions such as Valentine’s Day, anniversaries, birthdays, parties, etc.

Upscale Dining

Over the last two decades, Phoenix and especially Scottsdale have steadily raised their profile as proper dining destinations. In fact, just a few years ago, the entire Phoenix area was considered a “food desert” in comparison with other big cities such as New York, Miami, Chicago, L.A., and San Francisco. Of course, many denizens of those cities would scoff at the notion of Phoenix as a foodie paradise; however, you would not know the difference at Café Monarch. The service is impeccable from start to finish and the cuisine does not disappoint, especially when a four-course dinner is served every night.

First Two Courses

The kitchen at Café Monarch, one of the top restaurants in Scottsdale AZ, is constantly working to present the most innovative dishes, so naturally, the menu changes often. As an example menu, begin the first course with the Roasted Cauliflower Soup, Rock Shrimp Ceviche or the Wagyu Beef Tartare. Each item is as complex as the next. As a second course, diners can choose between the magnificent Seafood Tower which contains lobster, scallops, calamari, and smoked trout caviar or the divine Heirloom Beet Carpaccio served with burrata, brussels sprouts, arugula, cashews and candied bacon in a port-wine gastrique and champagne vinaigrette.

Last Two Courses at Cafe Monarch

The third course is where things get interesting. Choose the Maple Leaf Farms Duck Breast or the Ora King Salmon; both selections feature exotic ingredients you hardly see on other menus such as caramelized hearts of palm, truffle-pea puree, and Amarena cherries. The fourth and final course includes the Surf & Turf trio which includes a filet mignon medallion, Chilean Sea Bass and lobster ravioli, a Macadamia Nut Crusted Chilean Sea Bass, a classic Ribeye cut and a rack of lamb, just to name a few. If you choose an a la carte option, those items are only available at the bar. Additionally, don’t forget to ask your server about wine pairings because the cellar is stocked with some of the best varietals in Old Town Scottsdale. The menu at Cafe Monarch constantly changes, so be sure to visit each time you visit Scottsdale!
